How I took this shot

This image was very awkward to get because of the shallow depth of field and the bee moving around quickly made it hard to focus on it.

Assessment of the image

With just the bee ad the one flower being in focus it stands out against the blurred foreground and background. The image is composed of three triangles with each narrow end pointing to the top right of the image, this draws the eye from bottom left to top right across and up the image creating movement within this tightly framed shot. This image is framed with negative space either side of a diagonal band which goes through from one corner to the other. The foreground is solid and dark, and the background is a triangle of a paler tone which gives balance to the image.

The contrasting dark colours of the bee against the light colours of the flower gives balance to the focus plane of the shot.
