How I made the website

I decided that a website would be a good way to present this project.

My parent builds websites, so I asked for some instruction. I had already seen a website built for another artist which I liked, so we decided to use that as a template for my project.

I learnt a little bit about html so that I would be able to edit the pages and put in the photos and comments that I wanted to use. I thought it could be useful for my teacher also to be able to see how the project was developing. I used Adobe Paintshop to edit my photos, but also learnt how to use GIMP for resizing as this is my parent's familiar image manipulation program. I learnt how to upload my pages using filezilla.

I had a good edited photo of an orange with colours that fitted in well with the overall theme. So I took a slice of this photo and used it as the header image. I used GIMP to crop it and resize it.

However I was unhappy with the result, as I did not feel it reflected accurately the content of the projrct so I tried again with the image you now see on the header. I prefered this image, because it is a picture of deer running in a line it naturally lends itself to this long landscape profile. I like the fact that there is a lot of space between the deer so that we can get an idea of their movement in the landscape. I also think the colours are light and fresh and help to lift the website which looked gloomy when the previous image was used.

It was interesting learning a little bit about how to build websites. I liked how the result was pretty instant so that I could spend more of my time on taking the photos and editing them, and less time on having to prepare the actual presentation of the images. Using a website simplified this part of the process for me.

I hope it will aso be easy for anyone viewing the project to navigate around and view in their own chosen sequence, following their own preferences for what they feel is important - which ties in nicely as this is what this project is about - how each person sees thinsg slightly differently depending on many things including personal preferences.
